My journey with hydroponics began in 2014 after reading a Forbes report about a leading startup. I began deepening my scientific research into the technology's potential for high-value crops in Saudi Arabia. In 2016, I recognized the opportunity when I noticed the rising price of Dutch lettuce in the local market, turning my theoretical interest into field application. Between 2017 and 2023, my farm became a living laboratory; I developed soilless systems built from over 95% Saudi materials and reduced monthly fertilizer costs from 1,300 to 250 riyals through locally produced mixes. I invented gravity-fed water circulation to reduce energy consumption and designed greenhouses adapted to the desert climate to ensure consistent production year-round. In 2021, these solutions proved their effectiveness, and I was asked to evaluate the largest hydroponic farm in the region and provide more than 60 life-saving recommendations. This success prompted me to establish a consulting business that links a portion of my fees to project outcomes, reinforcing the principle of partnership. My vision today focuses on localizing agricultural technology, creating quality jobs, and enhancing food security in line with the goals of Vision 2030 through water- and energy-efficient systems that are scalable across all regions of the Kingdom.
